He may not be playing at the moment but the countdown to his return to has begun. His thoughts at present are on other things, his ankle, the recovery period, the rehabilitation programme, the consultations. It's days like these that he must converse his energry. Today is Pippo Inzaghi's birthday, a player that the Milan fans want to do well. Today will also be a step backwards in some sense as the striker is not part of the squad as they go through their pre-season preparations. However, the greetings have poured in and everyone is waiting for the days when Pippo is once again back on the pitch, twisting and turning and causing defences constant problems, and above all, finding the back of the net to continue his reign as the goal-king. He still has plenty of years ahead of him, patrolling the penalty area. However, in the future he hopes to pass on his experience and expertise to young Milan players, of course. The top players have always had an unbreakable rapport with the club even when their playing days end. Look at Carlo Ancelotti and Mauro Tassotti. Look at Franco Baresi who has guided the youth side with great success. Look at Leonardo with his work with the Milan Foundation, Daniele Massaro on the commercial side and then there is Angelo Colombo, Alberigo Evani, Stefano Eranio, working in the youth sector. The rapport between Milan and its former players is there for all to see. Even when a player finally leaves the club they do not take with them any grudges or controversy. This was highlighted by a certain Fernando Redondo. So on Pippo's birthday it's wonderful to reveal all the greetings and best wishes for the popular striker and how deep the link within the Rossoneri family is.
