I keep forgetting I'm not 25 anymore.

  • It's not even midnight and I'm very, very drunk.
  • I have this feeling that I told some guy I'd do unspeakable things to him if he'd only make out with his male friend.
  • Damn!

D-Day tomorrow.

We'll find out if we're continuing to step out with Patrick, (gag me with a spoon) call on the UNC or if Dookeran is really the man. Yes, we're a three party nation. I haven't decided yet whether to vote with my conscience or do what's expedient to kick the current government out. I loathe the current administration but they have a lot of support.  This depresses me but a picture of Sandro and his mama cheers me up a bit. Some days it's warm and nice in the shallow end.

I really like the Mother of the Groom outfit and the cute but sensible shoes. I've been having foot pain like no one's business lately but thankfully, according to the doctor, there's no reason for it. I'm now armed with arch support and anti inflammatory meds and I feel like an old woman.

I started my santa fic today as part of my "you can't change what you don't acknowledge-follow through on commitments" philosophy. I'm quite pleased with my bunny for this fic; it's cuddly with just the right dash of brooding and angst.

Someone call in the fashion police, please!

Bed now; voting early tomorrow. Tomorrow night no one will sleep.

Happy Emancipation Day!

Some people think a public holiday shouldn't pour with rain! It is though and I'm thinking of snuggling down with a blanket and a bowl of  Chocolate Midnight Cookies ice cream to watch The Labyrinth. When I was a kid I thought Sarah was the coolest thing and her life was soooo hard and traumatic. In my twenties I found her vaguely annoying and now I sometimes fast forward her more whiny speeches to get to the Goblin King.

Last night's experiment with Angel on the backs of the knees went so well that I'm trying it on the insides of my elbows today. The bottle really is too adorable for me to hate this fragrance. Rain outside, blankets inside, my dog at my feet, books, perfume and dvds; I may never work again!

A bulleted update

  • The Britney meltdown watch was top story on three news channels. The bombings in India were only on the BBC.
  • My cousin's birthday was on the 14th, my deceased grandfather's on the 18th, another cousin's is tomorrow and mine is the 28th; that's a lot of e-cards.
  • No work, Carnival time; I have flu anyway.
  • Chatrooms breed drama without even trying.

Sunday

I'm having a day of pure vampire cheese; slick, industrial black, white and grey, high tech weapons and gothic swords, impractical, flowing costumes and bad accents. I love it!

Started with: Underworld

http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/underworld/index.html

Next: Underworld Evolution

http://www.sonypictures.com/homevideo/underworldevolution/index.html

If there's time I may watch "The Breed" or  "Dracula 2000." My collection could really stand some updating.

Monday is going to suck!

I'm failing at trying to have a positive attitude, I know.  But, I'm sick of work drama! I dread the inevitable bitch fest that's going to explode over the mysteriously missing Samsung Slide. I'm also dreading the travesty that will be tomorrow's strategic planning meeting.

My boss, the director, has a workshop tomorrow and can't chair the meeting. You'd think six managers and a few co-ordinators could hammer out a strat plan on their own, yes? Wrong! With no one above them to keep them on track they'll be whining about current issues in the department instead of working out what we're going to do long term. Current issues are important but the strat plan is due on May 19th; the lowly co-ordinators, myself included, have to put it together before then and get the director to vett it. We'll be scrambling to finish like last year because the managers believe that sort of thing isn't their job. How the hell can planning and budgeting for one's own department not be part of a manager's job? Feh, I say! Feh!

I have no opinions on the Serie A title race or the evil scandal. As for Sheva...if he wants to go then let him go, for a top price and no exchanges. It's Jaap and Rui I'm going to miss. * clings *

That should be enough bitching for one night.

And it's Lyon, y'all. I thought it would be them when I saw all the results this week and, lo, I was right! I am amazing! Well, maybe not amazing but I'm currently the only woman in the office under 35 who isn't being a complete drama llama.

I need footballing buddies in RL; I've been dying to talk about the draw all day :(

Memes and Shiny!

Meme - Tagged by [livejournal.com profile] dollface_uk

Name 5 of life's simple pleasures that you like most, then pick 5 people to do the same. Try to be original and creative and not to use things that someone else has already used. Tag 5 people on your list.

  1. The sound of the ocean in the morning.
  2. Night rain.
  3. Family.
  4. An afternoon off, coffee and my battered copy of FotR.
  5. Carol of the Bells (Tis the season and all)

I tag [livejournal.com profile] yehnica , [livejournal.com profile] solar_type_star , [livejournal.com profile] starfish32 , [livejournal.com profile] winter_solstice and [livejournal.com profile] nhr

The latest shiny in RL.

  1. My little mint garden; it smells glorious!
  2. Perfume; Perry Ellis Portfolio, Elite has joined the little family of bottles on my dressing table. Seriously, I need to be prohibited from buying anymore perfume.
  3. Newly cut hair and groomed eyebrows - now I feel girly again.
  4. Getting work done despite annoying co-workers and their annoying habits and brats.
  5. The return of the advent calendar on neopets.com ; though that's not exactly RL.

Better late...

At [livejournal.com profile] super_em 's command. At least the music memes are farking easy. List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your Livejournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

I warn you lot, I'm in a serious Cure joygasm!

  1. Disintegration - The Cure.
  2. Trust - The Cure
  3. Charlotte Sometimes - The Cure.
  4. New Year's Day - U2.
  5. Love Will Tear Us Apart - Joy Division.
  6. Never Gonna be the Same - Sean Paul
  7. Black Dog - Led Zepplin.

I haven't uploaded the music cuz I'm lazy! I won't tag because I think everyone has already done this meme; I'm always so late with these things.

I have a very tiny mint garden that I took very crappy digital pics (also unuploaded (new word)) I have regular mint, chocolate mint and orange mint and I'm very proud! I'll post the pics tomorrow.

In the meantime let's talk about Milan! So amazing against Fener and kudos to the Fener fans for applauding Sheva the great. It was such a lighthearted game; even Rui took getting half stripped in stride. Paolo played with a black eye and looked hot despite it. He had to do extra cuddling of Sheva since Kaka wasn't there to help out.

Shopping can be a thing of joy.

Spent far too much money for one day but lacy things, new shoes and the first season of Bewitched are of the good. I feel sleepy, lazy and not ready for vacation to end. * sigh *

I hope my boss is as unobservant as most men then he won't notice my hair and eyebrows have been done after I called in sick. Sometimes you just need a mental health day.

Rita has become a monster over the ocean! There is reason to believe that Houston won't take a direct hit though and I'm glad because I have family there. I'm also guilty because that means another city will be devastated. It's frightening to think that there are two more months of the hurricane season to go. I think it will get progressively worse with the passing years. In twenty years living in Florida will just be some quaint little thing our ancestors used to do.

So productive.

I updated my user info, polished nails read The Tell-Tale Heart and texted friend for her birthday. I'm so lazy it scares me. That story always makes my blood run cold; I keep imagining the old man shivering in the dark, knowing something embodying all his fears was in the room with him.

We just had a mini storm with an innordinate amount of thunder. Surprisingly, the rain poured down afterward; it rarely rains heavily here when the thunder shows off. It made me restless and this is bad because I need to work on some notes for a meeting on Tuesday. The thunder's still rattling around and poor Azzurri is camped under the bed.

I was going through my old files the other day and I found some images of Alice Aycock's and Judy Chicago's work.

I really want to see these pieces in person )
