Today has been an all around wierd one. I'm still having a hard time believing that John Ritter is dead. He's younger than my parents for heaven's sake. Today my mother went to a funeral for the wife of a man who goes to her church. She was a school teacher and mother and grandmother to many and she died of a massive heart attack. I lectured my mum on heart disease (number two killer of women I believe.)
Johnny Cash died today as well, less of a shock as I believe he was ailing for a while. In some ways all the attention the TV channels is giving the deaths is...well a little indecent...Two years ago yesterday thousands of people died in NY, thousands more died in Palestine, Israel, Iraq and all over the world, died in horrible violent ways. I fail to see that that is less tragic than two celebrities dying of natural causes. And don't get me started about Ben and J-Lo cancelling their probably ridiculously overpriced wedding...Does anyone fucking CARE?
On a related note, I LOVE "Three's Company." Absolutely loved it! When I was a kid I wanted to grow up and live like that. Of course, a group of my grade school friends also had a plan to take a cruise on "The Love Boat." We even asked our parents if we could go, I remember asking mine. My mum's lips were twitching, I know now that she was making heroic efforts not to laugh. But I digress, when I was really stressing about school in that last year I used to watch TC. Perfect therapy, it was soooo goofy and hilarious. I've always seen John Ritter as "Jack" because I hated all of his later work.
I really need a "to do" list, I got fic to finish and reference letters to coax out of people and bills to pay. Why does no one tell you that being a grown up sux?
