Some days are better than others

Today was a golden day despite being rear ended and not getting the precise copy of Anne of Avonlea, that I wanted. The dry season has begun and looks like it might last the stipulated six months instead of teasing us and giving way to showers. Rain is lovely in moderation but a full year of it is more than enough.
While I was dressing early this morning and checking the news and LJ online I got a wonderful surprise. A link to a delicious Sandro/Couto fic by fangirl_lizzie . It was like receiving a package delayed in customs over Christmas just as the January/February blues start to take hold. Thank you again Lizzie, for once I left the house not cursing the fact that morning comes so early!
The morning was mild and warm with a breeze coming off the gulf. All the colours of the Caribbean were at their best and the world seemed to glow blue, green, white, red, purple and pink. I spent an hour talking with a lovely elderly gentleman on his equally lovely, windy back porch with chimes chiming and dogs wagging their tails and nosing my hands in search of petting. We spoke of the history of the company for which I work, from its' birth as a tiny engineering firm and its' development to a major corporation with numerous subsidiaries, and the history of trade unionism in the island. But, I also learned the histories of his three dogs; Madeline, named for a TV character, Bandita, so named because she is a girl with a black mask across her face and Ti Ti Pauline. Ti Ti Pauline is named for the original owner of a plot of land that said lovely elderly gentleman now owns. Ti is the patois version of petite, ti ti translates to "small small" (Caribbean people are fond of emphasis) Ti Ti Pauline is the largest of the dogs but Caribbean folk think logic is often overrated.
After an early lunch of a crab salad wrap and a latte I discovered a bookstore I'd never seen before. They had an old beat up copy of Anne of Avonlea hidden on a shelf and I was thrilled because I'd lost my copy when I moved the last time. But, the saleswoman said it was only a rental copy and not for sale and I hate the idea of renting a book, especially one I love. On the journey to my second interview my car was rear ended, not badly. It wasn't exactly anyone's fault and the guy who did it was reasonable and gave his contact info without fuss. Would you believe, after spending another hour with an equally lovely gentleman hearing about more trade unions and company history and being asked if I were a lawyer because I "look so professional and elegant" and driving home, that dent was gone? I swear!
I could have gone back to work after my interviews but I ditched and went to the mall instead. There, I found Anne of Avonlea, smished together in an anthology with other classic children's tales: Black Beauty, The Secret Garden, The Little Princess and Anne of Green Gables. Then I came home, donned my Milan shirt and sat in front of the computer to follow the game.
They won! I didn't expect it in the least! Messina has been high scoring this season and they beat us once already. I thought a draw would be the best we could achieve against them. I didn't expect either JDT or Crespo to come through the way they did. As you may have noticed by my MSN sign in I'm cautiously optimistic. Yes, Juve lost but there's still 5 points between us and 5 points can win a championship just as comfortably as 8. I'm also a little disappointed that Nessie can't seem to step on the field without being booked. He didn't get sent off this time but he got his umpteenth yellow card of the season. Still, title or no title, the important thing is that the guys picked themselves up and pulled it together.
I was thinking of transcribing my interviews, I should transcribe my interviews. But, I'm going to have a long bath and wash my hair and perhaps see if anyone's around to rp. * looks guilty and blows kisses to FL *
