I think kids are naturally curious and fearless. Unfortunately we have to scare that out of them quickly because the world isn't exactly child proof. Abandoned pets break my heart; even cold blooded gators need loving care once they are removed from the wild. I'm anti exotic pets. I begged for a pair of turtles in a plastic tank when I was five. They were tiny and adorable; and then they grew! We had to move them into an aquarium and they'd pop up their heads and snap at my fingers. Scared the crap out of me. One day they ran, well floated away from home...that's a rather involved tale though. Since then it's been dogs for me...well except for the parrots and a hamster. :P
