I am thankful that I do not live in California...

Where they have elected the Terminator as their Governor. Pauses silently to contemplate that occurence and shudders.
Not that life here has been a picnic either. On Monday the budget was presented and the police were out in full force throughout the island.

Despite our recent crime problems we're a peaceful, laid back people. Sure, people have been ticked off and wanting more money put into law enforcement and health but placard waving, marching and yelling suffices for us. The police know this and they are usually content to stand and watch while protesters have their say.

Unfortunately, Parliament worked themselves into such a state of paranoia that the police decided to overcompensate. Hundreds of peaceful protesters ended up cooling their heels in prison for the day, even groups that were miles away from the capital city and the silly politicians.

I need to read the stupid budget, I want to see what they intend to spend on education. Apparently, the public school kids (using public to indicate government funded and not the British meaning) aren't up to standard with their reading and maths. I'm not certain if there's always been such a gap between the public and private schools. I'd like to think not but, as the parentals pointed out earlier, the first time I attended public school was for my MA degree. Then they managed to sneak in a mini guilt trip about sacrifice and hard work on behalf of quality schooling and extra tutoring for one's child. Sighs, gave me indigestion.

Footie news!

Panucci is injured and will not play for Italy this weekend. A bad foot, apparently.
Pancaro will replace him.

Yesterday was Dida's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIDA! He turned 30, hopefully Milan threw him a party because they owe him a lot.

Turkey is allegedly chortling with glee over the current chaos in England. Not very nice of them but any overconfidence or arrogance could be successfully manipulated by England.

Barca allegedy want Rui Costa and Milan is allegedly considering it. I don't like this, I want Rui in Milan for a long time! We need him no matter how brilliant Kaka is.

Rivaldo still considers his situation, "difficult and worrying."
Buddy, let me give you some advice. Milan is a business first and foremost. There are players that Milan would move heaven and earth to keep happy; Maldini - their bandiera and captain, Dida - probably the best GK playing in Italy, Nesta - the best defender of 2002-03 no matter what UEFA thinks, Pippo and Sheva - bloody phenomenal strikers, Kaka - just bursting with potential. They aren't going to lift a finger to ease your worries though. Milan will use you sparingly and let you go when it is most profitable for them to do so. That's life in the modern game!
