Loth though I am to admit that Totters has a point, other than the one on his little blond head, Lazio failed to impress today. I thought that they would take this opportunity to regroup after being deservedly beat by Parma last week. They should have continued Empoli's initiation into Serie A with a good thumping.

Admitedly I've not kept up with Lazio's ins and outs. I was a Nesta fan through the Azzurri and I rarely watched him play with Lazio. They seemed gappy and relaxed too soon after scoring their first goal. In all fairness Empoli's keeper should have been sent off in the first half for blatantly handling the ball outside his area. (I hope someone takes a long, hard look at the refereeing of that game). Lazio dominated in possession and set pieces (9 corners for God's sake) But they let Empoli wear them down and take advantage of some bad mistakes...recalls Di Natale sending the ball soaring past Peruzzi (way off his line) with the Lazio defense nowhere in sight.

While Pippo can more often than not be given the benefit of the doubt when he goes down in the penalty area it must be said loud and clear SIMONE INZAGHI IS A DIVER! Not once but twice! Little prat thoroughly deserved his yellow card. Apparently all is not well with baby Inzaghi and Mancini. Inzaghi thinks he should start more often and Mancini replied that once he saw an improvement in his training he would start the prat.

The antics and expressions of Empoli's coach were hilarious. There was quite a bit of whinging from both benches at the fourth official. The strangest thing was that the referee came to the Empoli bench and waved a red card at the subsitute keeper. I have no idea what brought that on, even the commentators were clueless about it.
