A great, grand, glorious win over Lecce, 3 - 0! Made all the better by the fact that Lecce did not roll over and play dead for the home team. They played hard and made Milan work hard in return. Three goals even without SuperPippo though I was thrilled to see him on the subs bench, I'm taking that as a sign that his recuperation is progressing faster than expected.
Sheva got a goal in each half and Tomasson knocked one in late in the second half. Maldini almost scored in the second half but he was brought down, cleanly, in the area. I think he was bruised a bit but not really hurt. He had a terrific match, it just amazes me how hard he works and how much he is still capable of giving to the game.
Nesta had a decent game. I've realised from the last few times I've seen him play that he tends to hold grudges. If you foul him it's a given that he's going to subtly return the favour the first chance he gets. But that's just how the game goes. There was a faintly cheesy little ceremony of Rivaldo saying his tearful goodbyes to the Milanisti and being hugged by his teammates. Now it turns out that he might not leave at all if Galliani has his way. I think I can honestly say now that we don't need Rivaldo and not because he's a bad player. But Milan has several players who are his equal or superior and he'd be happier and more successful elsewhere. Chelsea apparently, if he gets his way.

MILAN - Another double from Andriy Shevchenko (after having scored in the first round at Ancona) and a last-minute goal from Jon Dahl Tomasson gave Milan a convincing victory over Lecce and allowed them to reclaim the head of the Serie A on 10 points.
With the 3-0 win at the San Siro the Rossoneri clinched their third success after four games in the Serie A to maintain the pace with Juventus and Roma's and leave city-rivals Inter behind them ahead of the Milan derby on October 5.
With Filippo Inzaghi on the bench through injury, Carlo Ancelotti selected Jon Dahl Tomasson to play off Shevchenko in attack and the pair responded in style.
The Ukrainian international opened the scoring for the hosts in the 21st minute, as he slotted home a low cross from Cafu, after a Rui Costa shot had hit the post.
In the second half the in-form striker made it 2-0 with a fine finish into the bottom corner of the Lecce goal after dribbling past two defenders. It was the fifth goal Sheva has scored in Serie A so far this season.
With one minute from time Tomasson sealed Milan's 3-0 victory, as he turned in from close range a lob over Lecce goalkeeper Marco Amelia by Brazilian talent Kaka.
