Has this ever happened to you?

You're getting a drink of water from the kitchen, not bothering with the lights 'cuz you know the house so well. Then all of a sudden you sense that you're not alone! There is something small and hairy at your feet. After freezing in shock for several seconds, your heart in your mouth, you feel a wet tongue on your foot and remember that you let the dog sleep inside tonight because there was a storm.
That just happened to me and it's not pleasant!
